January 2019 Club Meeting

The treats and ice cream were great.

We had a very good and productive meeting last evening. Don Fromherz, our new club President, opened the meeting by thanking the outgoing Board members and welcoming the new 2019 Board members. The major changes were Don as President and Terry Moss as Vice President.

There was one visitor and two new members present.

Don reviewed the list of goals for 2019 including

  • Continuing to work on current projects like the Annual Show, Ornament Exchange, Falls City High School support, etc.
  • Identifying and prioritizing new projects that are consistent with the Club's mission and purpose like pursuing youth teaching opportunities, participating in additional shows, and events, and displaying carvings in local art galleries.

The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved. The Treasurers report was read.

The Annual Show info is on the Club's web site. Kathy Dalton, the Show Committee Chair announced there will be a show committee meeting Feb. 5 at 6:00PM at the Center 50+. Club members are encouraged to attend and participate.

Kathy Dalton presented the program. She showed how to create and transfer a pattern to a wood block in preparation for carving. The process begins by taking a picture of the object to be carved then using a computer and a program convert the picture into a sketch. The sketch can then be printed using an ink jet printer onto wax paper. While the ink is still wet on the wax paper the printed sketch is then transferred to the block by rubbing the image face down onto the block. Kathy also reviewed the Club's presence on Facebook and Pinterest.

Great job Kathy! Thank you

The meeting adjourned at 8:45PM.
