Desiree Hajny Class

Recently, several of our Capitol Woodcarvers attended a carving class in Milwaukie Oregon. Desiree Hajny, a world class, award-winning artist from Nebraska, was the instructor.

Desiree provided a generic, basswood, band saw cutout, and the subject matter, which was a Panda Bear. The student’s task was to come up with a design concept, and then with guidance from Desiree, carve it. The designs could range from a basic bust of a panda, to a more complex project complete with more than one bear and complimentary habitat.

After four days of flying chips, some amazing pieces emerged from those blocks of wood. Visit: hajny.fineartworld.com, to see some of her works.
