Club Meeting Last Evening
It was another good meeting with an excellent turnout. The treats were excellent and were provided by Donna Miller, Laura Woods, Laurie Ladd, and Jim Harris. Thank you for such great treats.
Denis Miller called the meeting to order at 7:00PM. He reminded those who have not yet paid their 2018 membership dues to please do so.
Bob Curtis announced that Lynne Lake had undergone bypass surgery but is doing well. Laura Woods announced that Gary will be undergoing surgery early in May. We all wished both these members well.
Barb Fromherz and Reed Barker respectively read the minutes of the last meeting and the Treasurer's report. Both were unanimously approved as read.
Kathie Dalton announced the ribbon winners from our April show. The names of the winners are posted on our web site and will be included in the May Newsletter.
Bob Curtis announced that the Club will be participating in the Marion County Fair. We will have 5 tables throughout the Fair which is scheduled for July 12 - July 15, 2018. If you would like to display your work at the Fair while manning a table please contact Bob Curtis who is putting together a list of volunteers.
The Club had a raffle item item donated by Chipping Away so we raffled it off at the meeting. Tom Seymour was the lucky winner of a Chipping Away $25.00 gift certificate. Congratulations Tom and thank you Chipping Away.
The program was presented by Terry Kramer. Terry talked about face carving and the importance of light. He demonstrated the affects of light and the impact it has during caving a piece as well as the role it plays in displaying a piece. Terry had several excellent examples of finished pieces by himself and his students.
“I believe that there exists within each of us infinite potential, the ability to achieve beyond our greatest expectations. It is my intent and purpose to devote enough time and energy to my art that the result will be a journey into myself. I invite you, through my work, to share this adventure."
The following pictures show some of the carvings displayed by Terry during his presentation.
Great presentation! Thank you Terry.
