Hello Fellow Carvers. The State Fair is coming up and we will have a booth in the Columbia Building on Wednesday, Aug 30th & Thursday, Aug 31st. The fair is open from 10 until 10 pm, however the past few years seems like we usually close the booth around 9 pm because traffic flow is practically nil. I plan on being there all day on both days so I am looking for about 9 people to help me out for each day. We will be providing free parking and free fair entry for the day you would like to work the booth. We hope you will bring along samples of your work and something to work on while you are there. Each session will be four hours long. You are welcome to work more than one session if you feel you can contribute more time. You also might consider bringing your own chair if you want to be more comfortable. If you want to eat while you are there please bring food along with you, however there are plenty of places to purchase food at the fair and well as wonderful ice cream at the Dairy Women’s booth (yummmm!).

I will be unable to attend the July main meeting so if you could give me a call or email me what times you would like to come to the fair I will enter them on my master list. I hope to be able to give a copy of that list to Denis to pass around at the meeting as well. I have always found that the fair is a great time to talk about our club and meet many people interested in woodcarving. It really is a joy to visit with these folks. They often marvel at our work as I do about so many pieces our members carve. Our carvers are truly amazing!

I also have information about entering your carvings in the fair. The deadline for entering is August 1 at 10pm so it is coming up pretty quick. I hope that our club can have a great showing this year at the fair. I know many of you have carved items that are so unique and impressive it would be nice to see them entered.
