Club Meeting October 25, 2016 @ Oct 29 2016

The meeting was called to order at 7:00PM by Jack Dalton.

The executive committee reviewed the duties of the club vice president and decided at a board meeting to modify the duties and responsibilities in order to better distribute the position's workload. The actions being proposed include encouraging additional members to assume responsibility for or to participate more actively in the following committes:

Taylor H conducted the Show and Tell. There were many pieces on display, all of which were excellently done.

Barbara M brought ice cream to the meeting which we all know means she was once again published. Barb has articles on carving reindeer and carving a rose in upcoming Carving Illustrated magazines. Look for her articles. Her previously published article on carving soap bars was excellent.

Approximately 43 Christmas ornaments were donated for the club's annual fund raiser bringing the total to 195 ornaments donated this year by 21 carvers. Thank you to everyone who participated. Some of these ornaments will be donated to the Center 50+ for their annual sale while most will be sold by the club as our club fund raiser.

Those who donated ornaments will be entered into a gift certificate drawing to be held at our November meeting. You will have one chance for each ornament donated. The club will be awarding nine $20 gift certificates, three from each of Cascade, Drake, and Blue Ribbon.

We had an excellent program presented by Glen Arhens who is the OSU Extension Forester for Clackamas, Marion, and Hood River counties. The presentation covered identification of local trees. There were many positive comments about the presentation and how well it was presented. Thank you Glenn for taking the time to pass on this interesting information.
