June 28 Meeting @ Jul 01 2016

There was a good turnout for the meeting. Thank you to all who brought the delicious treats.

The wood draw contained a record number of items including many large blocks of wood, cutouts, and tools. Much of what was available came from Linda Schmitt who recently passed. It was her desire that her tools and wood supply be made freely available to members of the Capitol Woodcarvers.

Just a reminder that Dave Disselbrett has Christmas ornament blanks available for those wanting to donate a carved ornament to the Club.

There will be no August meeting. We will be having the Club picnic the last Tuesday of August at Bush Park. The time will be at 6:00 PM. This is always a good event so plan on attending.

Don't forget the Marion County Fair July 7 - July 10. Stop by and visit our Club booth.

The State Fair is quickly approaching. Volunteers are still needed to man our Club booth. If you are planning on submitting any carvings for judging please read the rules located at this link: http://oregonstatefair.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/2016-Crafts-Hobbies.pdf Many of our members have in past years received well deserved ribbons.

Denis Miller gave an excellent demonstration on how to carve a dove ornament. He handed out blanks and then demonstrated each step to completing the dove. Thank you Denis for the demonstration.

We received the following thank you note from the Tri-Cities Wood Carvers Association.
